QA Software Engineer

The role

We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Software Engineer to join the team and take ownership of performing detailed testing on new and existing features, as well as planning and implementing fixes within the source code.

The QA Software Engineer will play a key part in our development process to ensure existing functionality is performing as expected and new features are shipped smoothly and on schedule. There will also be the opportunity to identify and implement changes to the software based on your testing and user feedback.

This isn’t QA as you may know it if you’ve worked in a corporate role – we will empower you to identify and address opportunities to improve our UX. You’ll be expected to feed in actively to the smooth running of the software – anything from bugs to quirks is fair game as you’re on a mission to make Appointedd the best online booking solution on the market.

Responsibilities

  • QA testing and debugging new product features before release.
  • Creating detailed and well structured documentation and test cases for new and existing product features.
  • Taking ownership of bug and issue tracking.
  • Liaising with customer support team to create detailed issues from bug reports.
  • Deploying features and tests to our testing environments.
  • Planning and implementing fixes for issues, then communicating back to support team when fixes are deployed to production environments.
  • Proactively identify, and implement fixes for potential technical and UX issues.
  • Implementing new product features and enhancements.

Desirable skills and experience

  • PHP and frameworks (we use Laravel)
  • NodeJS and frameworks (we use Hapi)
  • Frontend JavaScript and frameworks (we use AngularJS)
  • CSS Preprocessors (we use SASS)
  • Package managers (we use NPM & Composer)
  • Build tools (we use Grunt)
  • NoSQL databases (we use MongoDB)
  • GIT version control
  • Issue management software (Github, Jira etc)
  • Know your way around a command line
  • An eye for software design and UX best practises
  • Experience working in an agile development team
  • Enjoys developing end-to-end solutions across the frontend and backend
  • Ability to learn and pick up new things quickly
  • Great verbal and written communication
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in as no two days at Appointedd are the same!
