The challenge

The coronavirus has put weddings around the world on pause, causing a huge problem for The Wedding Gallery and the wider industry.

“The whole wedding industry is being affected by this virus”, says Monica Marriott-Mills – Marketing Manager at The Wedding Gallery. “Customers are worried, weddings are being postponed, and it is financially and emotionally distressing for stores and their customers. Then there is the knock-on effect, for suppliers and the industry as a whole.”

The Wedding Gallery needed a way to connect with customers who had made appointments prior to the escalation, and offer their services virtually until business as usual could resume.

The solution

Appointedd’s online scheduling software has enabled The Wedding Gallery to react quickly to the escalation of COVID-19 and begin offering virtual bridal consultations, while making sure the decisions being taken are clearly communicated with customers. 

The Wedding Gallery has been able to use customer data from Appointedd to send personal notes to every customer, updating them on the status of the business and their options for online services. 

Appointedd’s in-depth reporting has also allowed The Wedding Gallery to understand exactly which customers were due to be coming in for appointments, and use that knowledge to manage the impact on the business. 

“We’ve been able to monitor traffic, appointments, and postponements.” Monica says. “We have felt the impact of high postponements and low bookings – which makes sense given government advice – but Appointedd has helped us foresee this, digest it in an easy way, and react quickly to minimize the impact.”

The result

For services that need to be visual, like wedding dress consultations, Appointedd has supported The Wedding Gallery in moving to virtual appointments. 

Customers can book a virtual dress consultation from The Wedding Gallery website and input their information during the booking flow, including their cell number. The team can then connect with the customer over FaceTime, and conduct the dress consultation that way. 

Monica says “At first we were offering fittings on a case-by-case basis, which we managed through Appointedd to ensure they were being carried out safely. With the most recent government advice, we’ve moved entirely to digital consultations. It’s a testament to the software’s flexibility that we were able to quickly and efficiently offer a new format of service as a result of Appointedd’s service options.”

Moving to virtual appointments has been key to ensuring The Wedding Gallery can continue to support its clients throughout a turbulent time.
